Department of Zoology

About Department

Department of zoology was established in 1989. The first batch of Zoology was graduated in the year 1992. Right from the inception results of department of Zoology were always higher than the University of Mumbai’s results. Students flow towards the subject is always higher than the intake capacity. Department of zoology have a very healthy environment amongst the students, all faculties and support staff. All faculty members use various teaching- learning resource effectively.

 Various activities like field visits, allotment of projects to students, student seminars, Online Quiz, Online course for students, Doubt clearing sessions,  Group  discussion, Wild life poster presentation,  Assignments etc are conducted very effectively. Activities like Career guidance , Teacher – Guardian scheme, Bridge course, remedial teaching , Identification of slow and advance learner’s and special coaching to those students, continuous evaluation of students, etc. are implemented rigorously.

Department of zoology has conducted successfully UGC Approved Career Oriented Course:  as Certificate Course,  Diploma Course, and Advance Diploma course for three years in Commercial Coastal Fishery & Marketing as an Extension Activity. All full time faculty members are with Ph.D. Department have maintained strong research culture with all faculties engaged in research activities. Our faculties have worked as member selection committee for selection of assistant professor, various syllabus planning committees of University, as Paper setters, and Examiners for theory and Practical examination of University of Mumbai, As reviewer and member of editorial Board of Research Journals.
